We would first like to thank God for a successful trip to Liberia during the month of June 2010. Secondly, the trip would’ve never been possible had it not been for your generous contribution and support. Since you support the mission of our organization we will like to share with you the activities that occurred during our stay in Liberia.

The commission for Dreams Fulfillment in Liberia officially began on June 22, 2010. The goal of our trip was to bring awareness to Dreams Fulfillment, and to also award Scholarships to the Students at JimmyJolocon School and Palm Groove Assembly of God School. The first official meeting we had was with the leadership board of Palm Groove Assembly of God School in Careysburg, Montserrado County, Liberia. During the meeting, the leaders of the school expressed their needs, which were a better facility, more educational resources, and financial support to help the students.

Being present at the school facility, it was a humbling experience for us as we witnessed the inadequate environment where the students received their education. The school had less than five class rooms for all the students from first grade to ninth grade, in which part of the class rooms were divided into sections where different grade groups are being taught. In addition, because of lack of resources, some students have to sit on molded blocks in their classrooms while taking notes on their laps. After surveying the entire school, we agreed to have an award ceremony on June 25th to award scholarships to the students who have excelled during the school year and to discuss our future plans.

On June 23rd, we were invited by “Liberia Broadcasting Station” as guest speakers on the show “Lets Talk” by Moses Dorbor to discuss the mission and purpose of Dreams Fulfillment in Liberia. The number of calls we
received from both young people and adults all over the country was amazing. We noticed that it was not only young people who needed tuition
assistance but also adults who are seeking higher education because they lack the financial resources due to unemployment. Statistics shows that 70% of the entire population in Liberia is unemployed which makes it
extremely difficult for parents to send their children to school. Nonetheless, the interview was very successful as we continued to receive calls throughout the day. This brings up our next point, though our goal
as an organization is to help the less privileged children with tuition assistances, we are considering tapping into the college market next year to also help those who lack the financial means to go to school. We
believe that this will still help us in fulfilling our mission which is to help those who are less privileged. To help us accomplish this goal, we met with the executive director of the Paramount Young Women Initiative, Ms. Kula V. Fofana and discuss possibility of forming a partnership since both organizations missions’ compliments each other. In addition to that, we were shocked to find out that there is no public library for college and high school students to do research. Therefore we’ve decided to add to our 2011-2013 goals, the possibility of constructing a public library for students in Liberia.

After the interview, we proceeded to Jimmy Jolocon School to meet the administration of the school. During the meeting, we discussed our intention of renewing the Scholarships to the students that were previously awarded last year. We informed them that only the recipients who achieved 80% or better on their final grade would be awarded. The school then provided us the report card for 23 students and told us that the other 3 students dropped out of the school. Afterwards, we concluded to return on Friday morning to meet the parents and students and announce the names of the students who scholarships will be renew.
